Cardiff's U18s travelled to Liverpool on Saturday where Michael Ngoo's first half brace was enough to give Liverpool a pre-season friendly win against the young bluebirds.

Highlights and Reaction from this match will be on Player Monday afternoon.

Liverpool took an early lead after just 7 minutes when Ngoo scored his first goal of the game. The tall striker showed some neat footwork, picking the ball up from deep and running at a retreating City defence, before unleashing a powerful low drive past Brian Martin in goal.

Neal Ardley's men tried to regroup, but Liverpool threatened again moments later when left winger Silva almost curled a shot into the bottom corner.

Cardiff started to get the ball down well and caused the hosts problems with balls down the channels, but failed to create any clear chances.

Liverpool's second came on the half hour mark as Ngoo doubled the score and his goal tally, when he finished in off the post from Kristian Adorjan's low cross.

The second half saw an improved performance from Cardiff, with some chances created by Cardiff, but nothing good enough to pass the Liverpool stopper.

Through the half both managers made several changes as they took the opportunity to give players a run out ahead of the forth coming season, but none of the changes made a difference to the score line as the game ended 2-0 to the home side.

With Cardiff picking up only their second defeat of their pre-season campaign, Neal Ardley was speaking positively about the academys season build up.

"Theres been several new players this saeson and we're finding out bits about them and thats whats been important this pre-season."
