Promising centre-forward Jesse Darko scored a well taken opening goal with an assist from midfielder Kane Owen. The former Bromley striker got in behind the Neath defence and slotted neatly past the goalkeeper.

The second goal of the evening came from Jordan Carter. The midfielder signed from Farnborough took advantage of a misjudgement by a Neath defender, pulling the ball down from a cross and firing home.

Sameth Al-Basith rounded off the victory in the second half. The defender showed excellent resilience to regain possession before scoring to make it 3-0.

The game provided Academy boss Neal Ardley with many positives ahead of this weekend's Premier Academy fixture at home to Charlton Athletic. Ards said: "The first half was scrappy, we rushed a lot of things and didn't show enough composure. There was a big improvement in the second half and all the lads worked hard to show they want to get into the team."
