We have six departments within the Cardiff City Academy, making up its Structure. Each department is fully staffed and also has part-time assistance. The departments are:

* Recruitment (Scouting)
* Education
* Medical (Physiotherapy)
* Sports Science
* Administration
Method
How do we develop excellence within our Academy? Our methods follow this simple structure:
* Identifying: Through our Scouting network, Development Centres and Community schemes we identify potential.
* Recruiting: We only sign players with real potential who we feel can cut it at high standards.
* Coaching: We place players with qualified staff, best equipped to meet the specific needs of each player.
* Resourcing: We make the best use of our well equipped training facilities.
* Maximising: We offer players the best development programme, allowing them to achieve their full potential by focusing on their educational, social, psychological and technical development.
* Retaining or releasing: Each season that a player remains with us, we ensure they continue their progression. But for those players who are released, we endeavour to find them another club should they wish to pursue football elsewhere. We also take care in monitoring players within their local club environment. Cardiff City Football Club has many links with local Colleges and Universities.
