Following the final night league game at Ninian Park where City beat visitors Derby County 4-1, Dave Jones gave his views to the press.

"I don't think we played as well as we are capable of and sometimes it's about getting the result. Our finishing was clinical but we know we didn't play as well as we have been and we know there's a lot more to come from us, so it's nice to come away with three points and scoring five goals really.

"We work quite a lot here with the third man running and there were a couple of instances in the first half where we were just short of the pass or they defended it quite well. So it's nice, and it was nice for Gavin Rae to get his goal as well because he's worked his socks off. As I said the finishing was clinical today.

"It's about just keeping going, it's one of our games in hand so it was important to get maximum points to keep that dream alive. Maybe it's just happening for one of the top two spaces and while it's still possible we have to keep hammering away but tonight it was just important to get the three points. I would have taken a 1-0 but I think we needed a second or maybe a third because we weren't playing and passing as well. Passes were going astray and they started off quite bright. But as I said when you've got the players that we've got here, and when they are in front of goal they can be quite clinical and they certainly were today.

"Joe Ledley's been feeling tight ham-strings for a few weeks, even when he was with Wales, that's why I said just to monitor him. He was complaining about them and we've got players that can fill in and it's important that we do that. Ross was another one we thought long and hard about but he said he was fine and there wasn't a problem and then when we got the third goal that was the time to give him that break so that we don't get the pulls.
