DAVE'S VIEW: EAGLES

Posted on: Sun 12 Apr 2009

Dave Jones spoke to the press following the two nil win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday:

"Palace bombarded us, firing the ball into our penalty area and that's what we expected. There was a lot to put up with today and we showed professionalism and determination in doing that.

"Gabor Gyepes was magnificent today in a huge team effort. It was a clear penalty, no doubt about that. Their defender took out both of Joe's legs. The referee was spot on. He spoke to me at half-time and sent both Neil Warnock and I to the stands. I would think that was because I tried to talk to Claude Davis at half-time.

"I went to see him at the end and told him he controlled the game well under pressure. There was a lot of provocation and a hostile crowd. Overall this was the biggest three points we have earned this season with all that went on. There was great togetherness and we stood up to everything with great professionalism.

"All the players are in tomorrow. There are one or two with knocks and bruises. We will assess how they are and then look towards Burnley at home. We took 22 players with us to Crystal Palace. We are all in this together - and we will stick by each other all the way."
