Dave Jones revealed he was angry with his players for their second half performance after they had dominated the opening period.
The Cardiff manager said: "We never got going in the second half, and we are giving away too many soft goals, although Joe's sending-off was harsh because he shouldn't have been given the first yellow. We didn't come out for the second half as fired up as we were in the first.
"We are also far too inconsistent. Our performances are going good-bad-good-bad. Just look back at the matches - Reading, QPR, Villa and now Sheffield Wednesday. We are allowing things to happen instead of making them happen, and that's not good enough."
City had two goals disallowed for offside in the first half, and Dave revealed the tape had shown that the first - by Michael Chopra - was legitimate.
"We don't know about the second, when Mark Kennedy seemed to get the touch, because the angle was difficult, and some of our lads who were warming up down there said he looked offside. Maybe it's time technology was brought in to decide these things. It's the second time in four days I've been done after Jay Bothroyd scored a good goal at Villa and had it disallowed.
"People moan on about time keeping, and whether more or less minutes should have been added on at the end of a match, but there are bigger issues - like offside decisions that are wrong. But we can't grumble about losing the match. We were poor in the second half. We have a soft spot at the moment. We are giving away goals that could be easily prevented. And the soft spot seems to run through the whole team"
