JONES SATISFIED WITH RAM RAID

Posted on: Sat 14 Aug 2010

Dave Jones was satisfied with Cardiff City's opening win away at Pride Park on Saturday afternoon, telling cardiffcityfc.co.uk that his players deserved praise for the way in which the three points were secured.

"It was a hard fought win and credit to Derby County for coming at us as they did at the end, but I think that we deserved the win today and leave Pride Park happy," said Dave after the game.

"We dominated possession for large spells and looked solid throughout, apart from the goal we gifted them which was a mistake on our part and one we'll look at next week.

"I also thought 'Oli' was fantastic in the middle of the park - he has certainly added new and important strength to our numbers and was there to break up their play and help ease pressure.  Danny wasn't too far behind him today either. In fairness everyone did well for me and worked hard to take the three points that we knew we were capable of.

"Their goal knocked the stuffing out of us a little bit and we had to regroup, but we made some changes as we needed to and the boys did very well out there today. They can be proud of what they achieved, and the fans also deserve credit for some outstanding support this afternoon.

"As for the situation with Naughts, Kevin has gone to be checked out in hospital. He was able to shake the first knock off but the second was a bit worse - having said that, it was a complete accident. We'll check up on him and let you know."

Full reaction, and that of Chris Burke and Seyi Olofinjana will follow on Cardiff City Player. Sign up now for les than £3 per month and also see the extended highlights on Sunday night - more than anywhere else and available whenever you want.
