Dave Jones was delighted with the Bluebirds' 4-0 win against Doncaster on Saturday.
"It was a perfect debut, not just for Craig, but Seyi when he got going and Naylor when he came on too," said the gaffer. "After all that's gone on this week, after all the hype, we just wanted to get on with it. We looked a little bit nervous when we started, what with all the hullabaloo, but I don't think you could ask for a better finish to a game. The goal that Craig scored was fitting of a quality player.
"We had to earn the right to play, we had to defend the first twenty minutes, and defend well. They tried to squeeze us and stop us getting the ball down, but if they were worried about one person then we have others who are very capable of opening the door.
"People always talk about Plan Bs and Cs and systems, but it's not about systems, it's about the players that you have. We now have an ability to change, and you can't tell me what system we played today - and if you can then you're a better person than me."

Dave was realistic in his analysis of the challenges ahead though, and heaped praise on the 'City faithful, commenting: "We've set a benchmark now, we know the pressure is on and we know that the hype is going to be there for a few weeks.
"We just wanted the game out of the way, we didn't want the Lord Mayor's show. We now need the fans to keep coming - we need them, and I thought they got what they deserved today because they've been superb. They got a performance, certainly in the second half, that was controlled and dynamic."
Discussing the new captain, Dave spoke of his outing and the justified standing ovation delivered by the 24,000 plus strong, home sell-out crowd.
"He needed the game because he hasn't played too much during pre-season," Dave stated. "He was quite nervous last night, I spoke to him at home and could tell he'd been nervous throughout the day. I just asked him to remember all of the things that he's good at and remind him that he doesn't carry this club, we all have a responsibility and it's not just about him.
"Craig deserved the applause. He wanted to stay on and see it out, but he'd earned the applause that he got. if I hadn't had to use the two subs earlier then i'd have brought Seyi off too, because I thought he deserved it as well."
