THE FERGUSON CONNECTION

Posted on: Wed 14 May 2008

Eighty-one years after Hughie Ferguson scored the goal that enabled Cardiff City to defeat Arsenal 1-0 in the 1927 F.A. Cup Final at Wembley, his eldest son Tom, now aged 84, will be at Wembley on May 17th to support the current Bluebirds in our bid to take the Cup out of England for the second time in its history.

Tom and his son Hugh (named after his grandfather) have been able to buy tickets for the game under special arrangements made by the Club for direct relatives of the 1927 heroes. The Ferguson family, who live near Edinburgh, have always maintained a close interest in the progress of Cardiff City, and it will be a particularly emotional experience for them to be at Wembley for the Final in view of their family links with the Club.
