Cardiff's thirteen match unbeaten run was brought to an end on Saturday against a battling Southampton side, but Dave Jones thought the world had ended as to the reaction after the game.

"I think people have to put things in perspective, it was our first loss since November and suddenly it's like we've been hit by a sledgehammer," said Jones "Everybody's going to get nervous, we just need to relax. We're in a fantastic position, we've worked hard to get there and one loss isn't going to end our season."

However, Dave did say that he was willing to make changes to the side if he decided the change was going to get him three points on Tuesday.

"After a loss I can do what I want." Dave explained. "I can certainly do it after a poor performance, but if I do make changes it will only be because we think they can get us a result on Tuesday."

This brought Dave on to opportunities for these players getting their chance and how important it is for them to grab it. "Others have to step up to the plate. Players will moan and groan when they're not playing, but when they get that opportunity they have to take it."

As far as team selection for the game with Barnsley on Tuesday, there will be some players who will definitely not be involved, while others may return to the fray.

Dave gave us the latest update on these injury concerns, saying "We'll find out today (Monday) on players like Chris Burke and Quincy. Then there's the long term ones, like Jay Bothroyd and Kevin McNaughton, I don't think they would have a chance. Steve McPhail should be back with us today. He had scans on Friday and as long as they show nothing, he should get the all clear to join back in."

The visitors on Tuesday, Barnsley, did their survival hopes the power of good on Saturday when they defeated QPR 2-1 at Oakwell. They will come into the tie with the Bluebirds brimming with confidence and it is clear Dave has prepared himself for a tough test.

"They're on a good run at the moment and will be looking for another three points to edge closer to safety. I don't know how they'll play, whether they shut up shop or have a go, but we'll be prepared as we do for every other Championship game."
