TAYLOR: "GREAT TO GET THE WIN"

Posted on: Thu 19 Mar 2009

by Mark Denham

Stuart Taylor spoke of his delight at getting three points against Watford on Wednesday evening in what may well turn out as having been a crucial game in our quest for promotion. The on-loan shot stopper spoke to Cardiff City World immediately after the game.

"It was a dramatic way to win a football match, that's for sure" said Stuart. "It was great to get the win and the place was electric when the whistle went moments later.

"The game centred around two penalty decisions. I was really dis-appointed with their one in the first half as I went the right way and lost my footing at the vital moment. I knew he (Tommy Smith) was going to go the way he did - I'd been watching videos of him taking penalties prior to the game and I wasn't far off keeping it out. Fortunately Ross did the business at the other end for us though".

"I was aware that we'd been on the receiving end of some last minute heartache earlier in the season so I guess in getting last gasp goals at Bristol City and against Watford means things have evened out a little now" Stuart continued. "I do think we deserved points from both those games though. Now we've got to concentrate on Sheffield United on Sunday".

The Sheffield United game on Sunday is sure to attract a sell-out crowd at Ninian Park and should the Bluebirds win, they will be superbly placed going in to the international break that precedes the final promotion push. The Championship campaign re-commences on Sunday April 5th against Swansea City.

"If we can get three points against Sheffield United on Sunday we will have had a fantastic week" said Stuart. "That's our number one priority now before the international break, during which we can focus on Swansea and gaining another three points from that".
