Another Ross McCormack late show ensured that City took all three points against a resilient Burnley side on Monday. Speaking to Mark Denham after the match, Ross spoke of the players' relief at securing maximum points.
"I thought we'd blown it after conceding so late but to get the goal straight away from the kick-off was amazing for us" said the Bluebirds' top-scorer. "It wasn't the most exciting of games in fairness, we didnt pass the ball as well as we normally do for some reason; fortunately we stuck it out though and got a crucial victory".
Ross has hit great form of late with seven goals in the last seven games and spoke of the importance of the immediate reply to Burnley's equaliser on Monday.
"I think it was vital that we re-took the lead in the manner we did" said Ross. "Had we not, it would have been a tough last five or ten minutes for us".
With fellow promotion contenders dropping points on Monday, Ross was confident of the Bluebirds finishing in the top two.
"I think that if we win our last four games we will go up automatically" Ross continued. "Teams will slip up over the next couple of weeks so it's up to us to make sure we do all we can to give ourselves the best chance".
