The experienced centre half will join up with the squad immediately. The Guilford born defender started his career at Fulham before going on loan to Oldham and Crystal Palace, before making the move to Selhurst Park a permanent one.

Mark didn't move far to Charlton in the summer of last year on a free transfer and made 43 league starts scoring 3 goals his first against Swansea in the opening day fixture after three minutes.

This will be the second summer signing after David Marshall.

Mark spoke exclusively to the official website: "I'm excited and pleased to have completed the move. I met the manager and the chairman and they showed me around the new stadium and the training ground and it looked superb.

"I'm looking forward to link up with the lads now and get started. Cardiff went pretty close last year and hopefully this time around we can that one step extra.

"Cardiff is a great club and whenever I have played here the supporters have always been superb for the home team and I'm looking forward to running out at the new stadium with a full house - the atmosphere I'm sure will be fantastic."
