Ross McCormack has told Cardiff City fans: "I'm happy here and I want to stay."
Striker McCormack, 22, has been angered by reports that he is desperate to get away from the club.
He said: "I don't know where those quotes have been dug up from. Everyone seems to think that I don't care about Cardiff and I want to leave, but that's not the case. I'm happy here, so is my fiancée, and we're looking for a new house.
"The fans here have been brilliant and it's killing me that they are reacting as if I want to leave as soon as I can. I'm happy and not planning to go anywhere. I'm upset at these reports, but everyone knows the situation. I had a conversation with the chairman and said that if a Premier League club came in for me, I'd like the chance to speak to them.
"There was no transfer request. It's true that I haven't started as many games as I would have liked pre-season, but I won't run away. Even the biggest stars aren't guaranteed to start every match. Players like Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez are never guaranteed to start, so I can't complain.
"People are talking about a £5million fee for me, and at my age that could turn my head. But all I can say is that it's very flattering."
McCormack, who scored 23 goals for City last season, received a boost earlier on Tuesday when he was named in Scotland's World Cup squad for their qualifier in Norway next week.
Make sure to get to Cardiff City Stadium this Saturday to support the squad in our opening Championship fixture of the 2009/10 season - the historic first ever league game at the stadium. Don't miss it!
