SPARKY ON THE ROAD BACK

Posted on: Thu 13 Aug 2009

Mark Kennedy hopes to be back in action for Cardiff City in just over a week.

Kennedy, who played in Saturday's 4-0 opening day win over Scunthorpe, missed out on Tuesday's Carling Cup victory over Dagenham & Redbridge because of a torn calf muscle.

At first it was feared that Kennedy, who can play in midfield or at full back, would be out for three weeks.

But after scans on the injury, he told cardiffcityfc.co.uk: "Our medical staff tell me I could be back in action at the end of next week. I'll do everything I can to prove them right."

That would see Kennedy bidding for a place in the derby match against Bristol City at our new stadium on Sunday, August 23 - or the home Carling Cup tie with their neighbours Rovers the following Wednesday.

Bluebirds winger Chris Burke will be available for Saturday's visit to Blackpool after recovering from the bug which kept him out of the Dagenham & Redbridge tie.
