MARSHALL SET FOR SCOTLAND

Posted on: Tue 25 Aug 2009

Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall has kept his place in the Scotland squad as George Burley's men face a last-ditch battle to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for South Africa 2010.

But injured Bluebirds striker Ross McCormack misses out on the matches with Macedonia on Saturday, September 5 and Group Nine winners Holland on Wednesday, September 9th.

The Scots need to win both matches to have a real chance of second place in the group and a play-off spot..

Marshall will compete for his place with former Cardiff keeper Neil Alexander, now at Rangers, and Sunderland No1 Craig Gordon, who made his comeback from injury in the Black Cats' 4-1 Carling Cup victory at Norwich on Monday night.

There is no place in the squad for in-form Cardiff midfielders Gavin Rae and Chris Burke.
