McPHAIL OUT 6-8 WEEKS

Posted on: Mon 02 Nov 2009

Stephen McPhail is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks after tearing a thigh muscle in Cardiff City's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Manager Dave Jones said: "It's bad news about Stevie and he's a big loss because he's won the fans over again. He was already doubtful for the match at Swansea on Saturday, but a scan has confirmed our worst fears."

Midfielder McPhail, who had starred for City since returning to the side in the 6-1 win over Derby in September, is likely to miss matches including the home clash with Preston and the trips to West Brom and Middlesbrough.

The suspended Michael Chopra also misses the Swansea game, although there was better news on the injury front when it was confirmed that forward Kelvin Etuhu will resume training on Monday. Etuhu, on loan from Manchester City, will be available for selection after the international break, which means he could figure at Barnsley on November 21. He damaged an ankle against Newcastle on September 13.
