Gabor Gyepes is set to start for Cardiff City at Barnsley in place of the injured Anthony Gerrard.
Manager Dave Jones revealed that Gerrard is out with a calf injury, which opens the way for Hungarian international Gabor to partner skipper Mark Hudson in the heart of the defence as the third-placed Bluebirds hunt for more promotion points..
Dave said: "Gabor has always been involved. He's around but its unfortunate that you can play only 11 men with the others champing at the bit, I hope. If Gabor gets his opportunity I would expect him to take it, try and keep hold of the shirt and keep Anthony out."
Teenage full back Adam Matthews is out after picking up an injury playing for Wales Under-21s in Bosnia, but there was better news on the fitness front with the return to the squad of Kevin McNaughton, who has been out since July with ruptured ankle ligaments. But Dave said: "We do have a problem with Jay Bothroyd - we'll have to see how he goes. Warren Feeney also picked up a knock on international duty with Northern Ireland."
Dave also had news of forward Kelvin Etuhu, on loan from Manchester City, who has been out since injuring his ankle against Newcastle on September 13. The manager said: "Kelvin is coming to Saturday's match and we hope will be back with us on Monday. He's had an injection into the ankle and hopefully that's solved the problem. We want to get him back in the rough and tumble of training again."
City will be looking to get back on the winning trail after drawing with Forest and losing at Swansea, but Dave said: "It doesn't matter that we lost the derby match - if we lose to anybody we're looking for a reaction from the players. It's back to work and get points on the board. The players must get back on track. At the moment the Swans have got the bragging rights, but it's not about one or two games it's about the whole season and how you finish. We feel we missed the oppoortunity to get points on the board.
"If you lose three of your most influential players who give you tempo, it's going to be difficult. We lost Stevie McPhail, Whitts and Chops, and they are big players. Some teams lose one player and they are struggling, but those three are big players for us and they were missed because we couldn't get that tempo to our play.
"Liverpool complain when they lose two players who are vital to them - we lost three, and anybody who does that will struggle. When you look at the players who were in the team, nobody means to go out and not play well. Everybody has this thing that our team didn't try, but that's a load of rubbish. Swansea played better on the day, and a lot was said by their players but you have to take it on the chin. It's one game in a season, we've still got to play them again but two games in a season aren't going to define where we finish.
"If it all went on one or two games in a season you'd be out of this division very quickly because you could win those two games and go out of the division. It doesn't mean everything is right because you win those two derby games. Some people would rather win the two derby games then finish where we want to finish. We're a bit more ambitious than that.
"I had a long chat with Paulo after the game and he deserved his three points. I haven't got a complaint with that because we didn't show what we were capable of. We have now got to try and put that right in the next game, and we've had to wait a fortnight to do it.
"Mark Robins has taken over as Barnsley manager and has picked up 18 points since he went there. The club were in a but of turmoil, decided to bring in Mark and he's done a good job. They have got capable players and he's got them on a good, confident run. It will be a tough battle. We've never gone there and not had a difficult game. They're always difficult, always tough ones, and I wouldn't expect anything else."
