CARDIFF'S 'NOUGHTIES' SQUAD

Posted on: Sat 02 Jan 2010

Goodbye noughties. After a packed decade we're thinking players; reminiscing over the Fan Zhiyi's and Josh Low's of the last ten years.

The new millennium started with a bad one, although City couldn't cite a computer glitch (the bug) on this occasion!

Back on January 3rd 2000 at Ninian Park, City were stuffed 4-0 by Preston - the squad being:

Jon Hallworth, Jeff Eckhardt, Jorn Schwinkendorf, Russell Perrett, Craig Middleton, Richie Carpenter, Jason Fowler, Matt Brazier, Josh Low, Kevin Nugent, Ritchie Humphreys. Subs: Seamus Kelly, Lee Phillips, Mark Bonner, Jason Bowen, Winston Faerber

We've seen a host of squad changes since that day, some of whom will live in memory for ever, perhaps among the best for the Bluebirds.

Of course, that's up to you. So we want you to submit your all-star Cardiff City millennium eleven from the players to wear our colours during the period January 2000 to December 2009.

You should select a starting eleven in 4-4-2 format to keep it easier to collate the votes.

List the squad in a format that makes sense (gk, lb, cb, cb, rb, lm, cm, cm, rm, st, st).

Add a few words on each if you like, and then select one as your star player, outlining the reasons why.

Submit your entry on our official messageboard - or via email to prog@cardiffcityfc.co.uk no later than midnight Tuesday January 5th 2010. Please include your name and contact number if submitting your entry via email.

The Official Cardiff City Message Board

The eleven players with the most votes will be listed in our Blackpool programme on Saturday 9th January, followed online the next day.

Who makes it into your team of the decade - and will it match the overall eleven?! Let's find out.
