McPHAIL'S COMEBACK VOW
Stephen McPhail has told Cardiff City fans he can't wait to play again after treatment for lymph node cancer.
The Bluebirds midfielder, who is also getting over a thigh injury, is preparing for a New Year comeback after going completing radiotherapy treatment in Dublin.
He said: "I finished my treatment on Christmas Eve and everything is good, I will be in recovery mode for the next couple of weeks, waiting for my immune system to get back working properly again.
."I hate missing matches and watching matches when I feel I should be playing. I want to be playing and maybe I will in three or four weeks, that's the aim anyway.
"The old year has had it's ups and downs for me, but it's a fresh start now. I can't wait to get back and help Cardiff push for promotion."
Stevie, who last played for City when he suffered the tbigh injury in the 1-1 draw with Forest on November 1, said: "I had my first Christmas in Dublin for 12 years, which was fine, but it felt strange walking into the training ground.
"We are fourth in the Championship and walking in on Wednesday it felt like a club fourth from bottom. It was that sort of feeling. A bit of a downer, really, but we are in a great position. We're only halfway through our league fixtures and better off than we were at this stage last season.
"We learned valuable lessons last time - and it's looking good despite those disappointing results against Plymouth and Peterborough.
"Now we've got to look forward to the big FA Cup game at Bristol City."
