JOSH FRACTURE CONFIRMED

Posted on: Sun 10 Jan 2010

Teenage striker Josh Magennis has broken his fibula, Cardiff City have confirmed.

Josh, 19, started brightly against Blackpool at Cardiff City Stadium in place of Jay Bothroyd, who was confined to bed with a temperature of 101 degrees.

But the youngster was stretchered off after half an hour following a 50-50 challenge and taken to hospital after a lengthy examination in the Stadium medical room. Hospital scans confirmed the fracture.

City manager Dave Jones said: "It's heartbreaking for Josh. We really feel for him. With Jay unavailable, I'd picked him to give us some height up front against the big Blackpool defenders and he was doing really well."
