ROAR US ON, SAYS ROSS

Posted on: Fri 29 Jan 2010

Ross McCormack has called on the home crowd to roar Cardiff City on against Doncaster on Saturday.

Rossco, who has scored three goals in the last two games, said: "We've heard some of the fans are planning things but that's up to them. From a player's point of view, we'd rather they backed us to the hilt.

"We've got a thin squad and we need all the help we can get. If the fans aren't with us it can be hard for us, but they can be our twelfth man tomorrow.

"They can roar us on as they have all season and I just hope they don't do what we're hearing they might do.

"We're a tight-knit group of players and in a situation like this you've got to show team spirit. That was evident last Saturday against Leicester. With 20 minutes to go we looked out of it, but the boys pulled together and showed character.

"This squad is good enough to make the play-offs. Our first eleven is a match for anyone but it's just injuries we've got to be aware of.

"We know the fans are hurting as much as the players and the manager that we can't get players in. We're going to have to put in a good effort to get through the season.

"Confidence is high after two good results on the bounce. If we start the game against Doncaster like we ended against Bristol City on Tuesday, then I fancy us very strongly.

"Three goals in two games is pleasing for me but I wouldn't have done it without my teammates.

"The most important and pleasing thing about the 6-0 win on Tuesday was the clean sheet. It's a big confidence boost for the back four, especially as Gabor came in, and Huds is injured. With Huds out, we're lucky to have Gabor to come in, Darcy Blake can play there and Kev can move across. We've got numbers, but it's disappointing when the club captain gets injured.

"It's a little bit disappointing that we can't get players in. We've got quality in the team., but we needed more depth, and now it's a matter of getting on with things. We've shown against Bristol City, Leicester and Bristol before that that we can beat the best teams."
