Manager Dave Jones warned Cardiff City fans to expect a roller-coaster ride for the rest of the season after Friday's 5-1 defeat at Newcastle.

Dave said: "We're going to be like that from now until the end of the season. That's the way we're going to be - up, at it, wining games and now and again we'll lose games.

"You can't come to a place like this and give them an early goals start, but we've just got to battle on. They've just spent four or five million on players, we haven't. I've got Stevie Mac coming back after twelve weeks out because that's what we have to do - just patch them up and kick them out there.

"We finished with two kids on the pitch, the right back is a kid. So we'll be in and around, we'll win games but now and again we'll come up against a team that will turn us over.

"We started brightly enough and got at them but we were sloppy in things that we did. We actually got done for two of their goals by giving the ball away when we were in good possession, and those are things we have to learn from. Some of our players are young, they have to take it on the chin and learn their trade.

"We'll go somewhere and get a fantastic result as we have done, but we are scratching around at the moment and I can't change it. But I can't fault my players because they keep going and keep digging in.

"It's good to see Stevie back. This wasn't the best place to bring him in, but we had to do it because that's all we've got. He's played 60 minutes with the kids but because we're down to what we've got he decided that he was ready and he did well. I took the decision to play him during the week and he didn't look out of place. He maybe lacked half a yard but that will come with games. He feels fit, he feels strong.

"We didn't do ourselves justice tonight. We're better than that. We go to another, bigger club next week and I've got to be sure that I've got players up and running and ready to do battle with a team that's far better than the team we played today.

"Today was a good lesson for Adam Matthews, at right back, aged 18.He'll learn to get back into position a little bit quicker, to get tighter on a good player. Darcy in midfield was superb. I'm playing a full back in midfield but the kid was absolutely superb in there and gave everything he had. Young Aaron came on, aged 17, and goes and scores his goal.

"I'm asking the players to keep fighting, keep going and keep giving me everything they've got. As long as they do that I don't think anybody should complain. I certainly won't."
