Peter Whittingham and Mark Kennedy are out of Cardiff City's Championship clash with Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Manager Dave Jones revealed the double injury blow ahead of the home match with Boro, who are two points and three places behind sixth-placed City.
Midfielder Whitts, City's top scorer this season with 19 goals, is suffering from a torn groin muscle, while left back Kennedy has a torn calf muscle.
They join a crowded injury list that includes skipper Mark Hudson (ankle), Steve McPhail (ribs), Joe Ledley (hips), Kelvin Etuhu (ankle), Miguel Comminges (knee) and Josh Maggennis (broken leg), while Ricky Scimeca has retired.
But Dave made a rallying call to his troops as the Bluebirds prepared to face Gordon Strachan's Boro. The City boss said: "We've got to try and push on and forget everything that's going on around the place.
"People must stop looking for excuses and get down to it and see where it leads to between now and the end of the season. We've got to be strong, stand up and take responsibility.
"We have a lot of games coming up in a short space of time and whoever plays will have to knuckle down. Football is a fantastic breeding ground for the blame culture but everybody has to look at themselves and ask themselves: 'Am I doing enough? Can I do more?'
"At the moment, certain people aren't doing what's expected of them and what they're capable of doing. They need to roll their sleeves up, pull their socks up and get on with it."
Asked about reports of a row with chairman Peter Ridsdale after Saturday's defeat at Preston, Dave said: "My relationship with the chairman is fine. I am allowed to vent my frustration somewhere along the line, and it seems to be headline news, but it's not. It's what goes on all the time inside a football club. It means that contrary to what some people seem to believe, we all care.
"We haven't cleared the air because there's no air to clear. There's nothing sinister going on. Are we at loggerheads? We can be at loggerheads or not at loggerheads all in the same day. It was nothing more than any disagreement that we've had in the four years I've been here.
"Morale is still good among the players despite recent defeats, and there's a determination around the place to do well. Confidence is bound to be knocked, but we're all in it together.
"Do we feel low? Yes, but we've got to get on with it, and there's always somebody far worse off than you are. It's difficult because we're down to the bare bones, but I've always maintained it gives others an opportunity to state their claim and further their career."
