MARSH AND CHOPS HONOURED

Posted on: Wed 07 Apr 2010

Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall and striker Michael Chopra have been named in the Coca-Cola Championship team of the week.

The team of the week features the eleven top performing players from each division from the previous weekend's matches. Cardiff City and Leicester City are the only clubs to have two players named in the team of the week.

Chopra's double against local rivals Swansea City, including his last ditch winner helped the Bluebirds start the Easter programme in style and earns him a place up front.

An equally impressive display by 'keeper Marshall in the same game, combined with a clean sheet at Nottingham Forest on Monday means Cardiff are represented at both ends of the pitch.

Cardiff ended the Easter programme in fourth place as they stepped up their push for a spot in the play-offs. The Bluebirds have now gone seven games undefeated, including five wins and two draws, and face dark horses Reading at the stadium on Saturday.

Full team: David Marshall (Cardiff), Bradley Orr (Bristol City), Gareth McAuley (Ipswich), Stephen McManus (Middlesbrough), Callum Davidson (Preston), Tommy Rowe (Peterborough), Kevin Nolan (Newcastle), Andy King (Leicester), Jimmy Kebe (Reading), Michael Chopra (Cardiff), Martyn Waghorn (Leicester).
