TOON WIN LIFTS BLUEBIRDS

Newcastle's 2-1 victory at Reading on Tuesday gave another lift to Cardiff City's bid for a place in the Championship play-offs.

 Kevin Nolan fired two goals to clinch a win for the Toon, which means that play-off outsiders Reading can now achieve a maximum of 68 points, while the fourth-placed Bluebirds are already on 70.

Blackpool and Middlesbrough are now the only clubs outside the top six who can overtake or catch Cardiff . With three games to play and nine points on offer, Boro could match us on 70, while Ian Holloway's Blackpool could go to a maximum of 72. Here's how the table looks after Tuesday's match:
