DAVE: FUTURE IS SECURE

Posted on: Sun 02 May 2010

Dave Jones has assured Cardiff City fans that the club's future is secure following a cash injection by Malaysian investors.

The gaffer said after the 2-0 defeat in the final Championship game of the season at Derby: "TG came up yesterday and spoke to the boys so we all know where we are now.

"The future of the club is secure, which a nice feeling, a good feeling after the rubbish that has been spoken and written about the club and all the rumours that go round. So all that has been put to bed now and we can really get down to what we are trying to achieve.

"We handle the football side and I'm sure TG and the board will sort out the rest.

"Peter Ridsdale has said he will step down and he has delivered on what he promised in terms of a new stadium and other things. It's been a lot of hard work, but if Peter is saying he will step down after delivering on what he promised, I wish him all the best.

"I've enjoyed my time with him. You don't work with somebody for five years without building up a good friendship and a good relationship and a business relationship as well. We've had our ups and downs but he's worked hard. He leaves a legacy and now the club can move forward."

Turning to the match, Dave said with a slight smile: "I've got ten injuries. When you've got injuries you've got to play what you've got. I couldn't risk anybody with sight knocks and strains so I left them out.

"One or two like Huds and Gabor needed to play, so they got the run-out. Ross was unlucky not to score and some of the youngsters sat on the bench to get to know what it feels like. It was important for Huds because he's played a game and a half, and he's now got 90 minutes under his belt.

"We've got tomorrow off and then we're back in on Tuesday and we'll knuckle down to some hard work for the play-offs.

"We know we've got two tough games. It's going to be very tough for all four teams there and we're all chasing the dream.

"There's a focus about our players. A lot of them wanted to be involved today and some were, but it was pointless to risk players for a dead rubber."
