BURKEY: NO SUMMER BLUES

Posted on: Wed 12 May 2010

Interview by Mark Denham

Chris Burke is determined to head into the summer months as a Premier League Bluebird.

The Scot spoke of the disappointment he felt last summer after City missed out on a shot at the big time on the final day of the campaign.

But with Wednesday's massive play-off semi-final second leg against Leicester City almost upon us, Burkey was under no illusion as to what he and his team-mates were up against.

"We're obviously delighted to be taking a 1-0 lead into this second leg with Leicester but we know we've still got a lot to do," said the winger.

"Sunday's game started off very tense I thought, but then opened up a little bit more in the second half. Fortunately we took one of our chances, and Whitts scored a fantastic free-kick as he's been doing week in, week out all season.

"Tonight will be an even tougher game though; we're not even thinking beyond tonight's match, we know how tough it will be and what we need to do to win it.

"There'd be huge disappointment if we missed out on a place in the Premier League, but the other teams in the running will all be thinking the same and preparing in similar ways to ourselves.

"I can still remember how disappointed I was after the Sheffield Wednesday game last season. I don't want to have to go through another low summer again thinking what may have been."

Also included in this historic production will be exclusive pre-match notes from Dave Jones, plus a message to supporters from outgoing Chairman Peter Ridsdale.
