Cardiff City defender Anthony Gerrard is focusing on becoming an ever better centre-half in the 2010/11 npower Championship.
The former Walsall man spoke exclusively to Cardiff City Player from the Bluebirds' Algarve training base, and talked of consistency being the key to his own future development.
"I thought I did ok last year for my first year in the Championship, without setting the league alight," said Gez.
"It took a little bit of time to get used to the new tactics and the pace of the league, but that's always going to be the same for any player.
"I thought I played with some good consistency, but this year is all about taking that consistency forward and putting in even better performances."
The centre-back caught some of this summer's World Cup whilst on holiday in Dubai, and to say the least, he wasn't too impressed with his home country's performances.
"It was poor from England's point of view - that' about all I can say really," Gez reflected.
"I don't think the right players were taken out there to be honest and I don't think the right players were playing in the right positions. I don't see how players like Michael Dawson and Joe Hart for example didn't make the side at any point having had fantastic seasons for their clubs. I think England need new blood now."
