"I didn't get too much playing time last season at Hull City and when Dave came in for me I thought to myself I'm jumping on this ship!" said the Nigerian international. "I've played against Cardiff City a few times and I know what they are about. Obviously the club have come very close to promotion the last two seasons and everybody here is very ambitious."

And the biggest draw of all it seems was the chance to link up again with Dave Jones. Seyi said: "Dave is a lovely man. For me, being a good manager is one thing but the personality of that man is also very important.

"I know Dave very well and I have a lot of respect for him," he added. "He's very easy going and a very straight talking man and I like that. Even when I haven't been playing for him he's been there for me to talk to - he's looked after me in that respect ever since he brought me to the country."

The midfielder arrived at 'City's Vale of Glamorgan training base with very clear intentions for the new season, stating: "It would be fantastic to get back to the Premier League with this club. I've been fortunate to have played a lot of Championship football too and with a certain amount of success; I now feel fortunate and happy to be part of Cardiff City's dream."

"I watched the game against Sheffield United on Sunday and it was evident that this football club has a very good squad with some quality players," Seyi continued. "Hopefully I can bring something extra to the side and maybe add a few goals as well. I'm ready to get going after having a good pre-season so I'm really looking forward to playing now."

But it's not just football that the thirty year-old is excelling at. Following up his degree in chemical engineering, Seyi is pursuing a Masters degree in project management. "It's been a privilege to do both," he said.
