Cardiff City have signed defender Martin John ahead of Wednesday evening's Carling Cup fixture with Burton Albion. He becomes 'City's fifth signing of the current transfer window.

Martin has been on trial with the Bluebirds in recent weeks and has impressed significantly in training during that time. Dave Jones moved to further bolster his defensive options with the signing of the left-back, who is set to feature in this evening's game. He will wear shirt number 26.

"It's great to sign for Cardiff City, the facilities here are fantastic," said Martin. "Everything about this club is set up for us to be a Premier League side."
