The Bluebirds travel to Peterborough United on Tuesday evening for their second round Carling Cup tie. 'City beat Burton Albion 4-1 after extra time to book their place in round two, whilst the Posh knocked out League Two Rotherham United by the same score.

Cardiff team news: Michael Chopra and Kevin McNaughton will be the most notable forced absentees from Dave Jones' squad, after being taken off through injury against Doncaster on the weekend. Craig Bellamy may not be risked in the fixture following his first game of the season just three days ago, whilst Tom Heaton could feature in goal for the Carling Cup fixture as he did against Burton.

Peterborough team news: Summer signings Lee Tomlin and Dave Hibbert will be hoping for first starts of the season on Tuesday evening. Full-back Tommy Rowe will also be hoping to get the nod from the off after replacing Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi for the second successive weekend on Saturday. Gabriel Zakuani, Lee Frecklington and Gary Whelpdale however, will be out of contention through injury.

Peterborough's season so far: The Posh opened their 2010/11 npower League One campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Bristol Rovers at the beginning of the month. Target man George Boyd put Gary Johnson's men ahead just before the hour mark at London Road, before Aaron McLean and Grant McCann sealed the points.

The 4-1 win over Rotherham in the Carling Cup followed three days later, but the Posh came back down to earth with a ban the following weekend as they crashed to a 5-1 defeat at Bournemouth. Spirits were again raised last weekend though, as United came from two goals down at London Road to beat promotion favourites Huddersfield Town by four goals to two.

Last meeting: Cardiff City 2-0 Peterborough United

The Bluebirds cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Peterborough in last season's Championship fixture. Chris Burke put 'City ahead just before half time, prior to Anthony Gerrard sealing the points for the hosts with twelve minutes to play. The reverse fixture earlier in the season was the real talking point prior to the February fixture though, as fans wondered whether the Posh could take the momentum from their amazing four goal comeback at London Road into the game.

Teams from last meeting at Cardiff City Stadium, 9th February 2010:

Cardiff City: Marshall, McNaughton, Kennedy, Gerrard, Gyepes, Burke, Whittingham, Blake (Wildig 21), McPhail (Taiwo 77), Bothroyd (Feeney 89), Chopra. Subs not used: Enckelman, Quinn, Matthews, McCormack.

Peterborough United: Lewis, Morgan, Bennett, Williams (Simpson 82), Frecklington, Rowe, Whelpdale, Livermore, McLean, Mackail-Smith (Gilbert 46), Boyd. Subs not used: Griffiths, McKeown, Reid, Lee, Geohaghan.

Attendance: 17,686

Last time out: George Boyd tries to ward off Stephen McPhail

Peterborough last time out versus Huddersfield Town: Jordan Rhodes and Graham Carey put Huddersfield two to the good before half time at London Road last weekend. But the Posh came out fighting after the interval and were level inside the opening five minutes of the half thanks to goals from George Boyd and Aaron McLean. Craig Mackail-Smith put the home side ahead just two minutes later, leaving McLean to tie up the points for the Posh twenty minutes from the end and complete a fantastic comeback.
