Cardiff City Football Club are pleased to announce thatHeidar Helguson has joined the club from Queens Park Rangers following the completion of his medical and signing late on Thursday afternoon.

The former Iceland International front man will take squad number 22 for the 2012/13 season at Cardiff City Stadium, signing a one year deal in the Welsh capital for an undisclosed fee from the Hoops.

Friday will be Heidar's first day of training with his new team-mates, after an evening watching Iceland versus Sweden at Handball in the Olympics with fellow countryman Aron Gunnarsson tonight. The striker will also be included in the pre-season Bluebirds squad at Oxford United on Saturday.

Check back right here on Friday for reaction to the move from both Heidar and his reuniting boss Malky Mackay.
