City began the game in a determined fashion and Tyler Roche was the first to have a shot at goal. Although Roche tried his luck from an acute angle on the right his shot was on target, the Ipswich keeper alert enough to keep his shot out. They scored again after more pressure with Liam Matthews managing to get a hand to the strike but unable to keep it out.

After the break the impressive Roche and Hill combined but this time the opposition keeper was the person to stop the City striker. While the home side piled forward to grab a goal it did leave them exposed in defence and a swift counter attack from the Tractor Boys resulted in them taking a three goal lead.
