The first lesson saw each Primary School visit Cardiff City Stadium. During the first session, the children took part in a ‘behind the scenes’ ground tour of the fantastic facilities and in doing so, developed an understanding of the various types of food and beverages available in the food kiosks. They were also made aware of the various types of advertising they will be subjected to when coming to a football stadium, the healthy foods Cardiff City players eat before and after a game and thus the importance of them doing so.

The second session of the day focused on the importance of food hygiene. The children, through discussion, developed an understanding about bacteria and how it can spread in cooking, cleaning, cross contamination and food storage. During the lesson, the children were shown how to correctly wash their hands; this was then practiced and carried out in the rest rooms at the stadium, enabling children to prepare fruit in order to make a smoothie for their class mates.
