Captain calls for back to back away wins at Derby.
spoke on Monday evening about the way in which Saturday’s win at Barnsley can ensure City’s campaign moves up an extra gear.Mark HudsonCardiff City skipper
“It wasn’t pretty at Barnsley, but after the away form we had it was exactly what we needed,” said the 30-year-old.
“That was really what we have been trying to do all season - get in front away and hold onto it. We needed the three points and we got them.
“We knew we had to get something there. We started very positively and at the end after they scored we showed good fighting spirit. I think maybe a bit of that had come from those good wins over Hull and Middlesbrough at home previously.
“Now we need to use Barnsley as a confidence boost and a bit of a launch-pad away from home starting with Derby on Tuesday.
“We watched some of their game (Derby’s 3-2 win against Birmingham on Saturday) as it was the late kick-off. They have got goals in them and are very positive going forward.
“Derby have proved very good at home, but we need to go there and pick something up. We believe we have got enough about us to go and do that and we are feeling very confident too. But we know it's going to be a tough game and a tough place to go."
