ADDICKS EDGE 18s AT GSP

Cardiff City’s U18 side fell to a late 2-1 loss to Charlton Athletic U18 at Glamorgan Sports Park on February 16th.

In an open first half the away side were disallowed a first goal of the game after the referee deemed they had handled the ball, and it was City who took the lead after an hour. A fine team move involving Anthony Bell and Brad Williams lead to skipper Kane Owen crossing the ball from the left and Macauley Southam powering home a superb header.

The home side couldn’t hold on though and the Addicks scrambled home an equaliser after a free kick with six minutes remaining.

In fact they returned home with all three points after a very clever move from the Charlton goalkeeper. The keeper threw the ball over half the length of the pitch to catch out the City defence and give his team-mate a clear sight of goal. Despite the best efforts of David Richards the away side managed to score a late winner.
