City pair in squad to face England on 14th August

CITY pair Craig Conway and David Marshall have been selected in Gordon Strachan’s Scotland squad to face England on 14th August.

The friendly fixture is to be played at Wembley, kick-off 8pm with Marshall and Conway looking for their seventh and fifth caps respectively.

The game comes just three days before the Bluebirds kick-off their Barclays Premier League campaign against West Ham United on Saturday, 17th August.

‘Keeper Marshall’s last outing for the Scots came during their 2-0 defeat to Serbia in March, that appearance ending a near three and a half year absence from the first-team fold for City’s number one.

Conway was a part of the side who sensationally beat Croatia 1-0 in Zagreb in June, coming on as a 75th minute substitute for Wigan Athletic’s Shaun Maloney to claim his fourth international cap.

Gordon Strachan’s side will use the friendly with England at Wembley as preparation for their World Cup qualification match with Belgium in September, although the Scots no longer have the chance to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil next year.

All eyes on preparations for the next qualification campaign for Euro 2016 for Scotland then, with their cause greatly helped by that win over Croatia in June. It was a result that saw them jump 24 places in the world rankings to 50th, and secured them a place in pot 4 for the draw for the Euro qualifiers.
