Manchester United winger joins on loan deal until end of season

Cardiff City are delighted to confirm the arrival of England International Wilfried Zaha from Manchester United on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Zaha will wear squad number 36 for the Bluebirds and is available for selection ahead of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League tie with Norwich City at Cardiff City Stadium.

Speaking on the deal, the 21-year old winger said: “I’ve only been here a day or so, but I’ve had a chance to get to know the place a little bit and meet people at the training ground. It’s great to be here.

“I think I’ll be able to contribute something to the team. I haven’t seen that much of Cardiff City this season, but what I have seen has shown me that we’re capable of playing good football.”

21-year old Zaha developed through the youth ranks of Crystal Palace before making his debut against the Bluebirds in March 2010.

Following that ten minute spell, Zaha went on to make 143 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 18 goals as his pace and flair on the wing caught the eye of Premier League giants Manchester United.

Joining the Old Trafford club in January 2013 on a permanent deal, Zaha returned to Selhurst Park for the rest of the season as the Eagles claimed promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs; Zaha scoring the all important winner to send Palace to Wembley with a late strike to defeat Brighton & Hove Albion in the play-off semi-final.

Since arriving at Manchester United, Zaha featured heavily in their pre-season preparations making his United debut against a Thai All-star 11 in July. The winger made his competitive debut in United’s Community Shield victory over Wigan Athletic in August.

Zaha has also made two senior appearances for England after a lengthy period with the under-21s where he made 13 appearances.

All at Cardiff City welcome Wilfried to the Club.
