New Development coaching team to take charge for first-time in Bosnia
Cardiff City’s talented development squad arrived in Bosnian capital Sarajevo on Friday in the club’s first tour to sister club FK Sarajevo.
Travelling to the Balkans for a three day tour, the club are delighted to confirm that the squad will be lead by new Lead Development Coach Nilton Terroso alongside newly appointed Development coach Quinton Fortune for the upcoming 2014-15 season.
As their first preparation game, City's under-21s will take on last seasons Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Cup winners as the two closely affiliated clubs meet on the pitch for the very first time.
The game, which will take place on Saturday 12th July at FK Sarajevo’s Olympic Stadium, kick-off 9.05pm (local time), is sure to strengthen links between two closely affiliated clubs, with the Bluebirds also set to undertake media opportunities and visits to the local area as part of their three day stay.
FK Sarajevo, owned by majority shareholder Tan Sri Vincent Tan, topped their third placed finish in the Bosnian Premier Liga with a commanding victory in the final of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup last season. A first-leg 2-0 win away in Zenica was made all the more commanding by goals from Krste Velkoski, Bojan Puzigaća and Nemanja Bilbija in the second-leg.
The result saw FK Sarajevo claim the Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Cup for the first time since 2005, ending the season on an incredible seventeen game unbeaten run in all competitions - form that earned them a place in the qualifying stages of the UEFA Europa League after claiming a third place finish in the league by a single point.
We thank our sister club FK Sarajevo for their warm welcome to the Bosnian Capital and look forward to strengthening links between both clubs during this exciting tour.
