Nine players currently on-loan from CCS

With nine Cardiff City players currently on loan with other clubs, we take a look at their progress away from Cardiff City Stadium with our loan round-up.

Impressing throughout his loan spell at Yeovil Town, Joe Ralls put the Glovers ahead at Championship leaders Leicester City on Tuesday night, his third goal in his time at Huish Park. Yeovil would go on to concede an injury time equaliser scored by former Bluebird ‘keeper Kasper Schmeichel, denying Gary Johnson’s men a famous victory.

Elsewhere, City are set to have two representatives in the upcoming FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley in Nicky Maynard and John Brayford.

Since joining Wigan, Nicky has been a regular in their Championship line-up and has scored three goals. These came in mid-February in consecutive matches, but he has not scored in his last five games. As for City full-back John Brayford, he has been a regular in Sheffield United’s charging League One side and has scored twice in eleven appearances for the Blades including one in their 2-0 FA. Cup Sixth Round win against Charlton.

His latest appearance came in Tuesday’s 2-0 away victory at Crawley Town, United’s eleventh win in thirteen matches in all competitions. It’s a run that has turned Nigel Clough’s men from relegation candidates into possible League One play-off hopefuls.

Back in the Championship, young Cardiff City Development squad captain Deji Oshilaja has made two appearances for Sheffield Wednesday during his loan spell at Hillsborough. Both appearances came against Wigan Athletic in mid-February and mid-March, Wednesday losing on both occasions.

At the Reebok Stadium, Joe Mason is currently in his second loan-spell of the season at Bolton Wanderers having returned to the north-west on February 20th. He had scored one goal in his previous loan-spell, but has scored three times in his first four games on his return. It's an upturn in form that has seen Bolton pull twelve points clear of the Championship relegation positions with eight games remaining.

In League One are goalkeeper Simon Moore at Bristol City and Ben Nugent at Peterborough United. Simon joined Bristol City on January 30th and played in their next six matches. Moore has yet to feature in March after sustaining an injury, with Frank Fielding regaining his place off the bench. Nugent joined Peterborough United on February 13th and has missed only two games for them since then, having played in nine matches including last Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at Preston North End.

Nugent may well also feature at Wembley this coming weekend as the Posh turn their attentions to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final against Chesterfield at Wembley on Sunday.

In Scotland, Filip Kiss is at Scottish Premier League club Ross County who are in mid-table. Filip joined the SPL side since early-January and has made ten appearances including last Tuesday’s 1-1 home draw against Aberdeen. He has scored four goals in his first two games, making ten appearances in total north of the border.

Etien Velikonja is currently with Portuguese Liga side Rio Ave after joining on loan at the start of February. Etien has played three first-team games, the most recent of which came last Friday in a 1-1 home draw against Braga.
