Manager disappointed with Liverpool third in CCS defeat

praised his side's first half performance in Saturday's 3-6 defeat to Liverpool.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

City twice took the lead against the Champions elect, Jordon Mutch opening the scoring after nine minutes and then Fraizer Campbell restoring the Bluebirds' advantage after Luis Suarez had equalised.

"We're disappointed we didn't get anything,” said the Manager in his post-match media conference. “We were fantastic in the first half.

"We had them exactly where we wanted; we tested their defence – when you play against an attacking side such as them you have to test their back-line and I think that’s what they did. We had spaces in a few places and got some fantastic goals. Liverpool didn’t come up with much in the first-half, chances-wise.”

"The display once again was good. We feel hard done by with the third goal though, two of our players were off the pitch [as Martin Skrtel put Liverpool in front for the first time].

"Now we turn to a big game with West Bromwich Albion next weekend. Teams around us lost today as well. We'll keep fighting."

While the final scoreline will make difficult reading for Cardiff City fans this evening, the Bluebirds remain only three points away from the sides just outside the bottom three, with Ole identifying the day’s main positive.

“I’ve sat here after the games against Spurs and Everton, and yes, the performances have been good, but today, we faced the top scorers in Europe with the teams around us looking like having more manageable games, and we’re not worse off than we were at the start of the day. I think that’s the biggest plus that’s come out of today.”
