Striker to officially join the Bluebirds on July 1st

Cardiff City are delighted to confirm that a deal with striker Javi Guerra has been agreed.

Putting pen-to-paper on a three-year-deal, Guerra will officially join the club on July 1st, having successfully completing his medical at the club this week.

The 32-year-old front man is sure to bring a wealth of experience to the Bluebirds’ front line ahead of the 2014-15 SkyBet Championship season, following a prolific four year spell with Real Valladolid where he scored 72 goals in 149 appearances.

Looking forward to joining up with the squad for pre-season, Guerra said: “I am very thankful for the warm welcome I have received here at Cardiff City and am very excited for my new challenge in Wales.

“Hopefully I can keep up the level that I have been playing at in Spain for the last few seasons and that it will be a successful time for me in Cardiff, with both the club and the supporters.”

Guerra started his career with Barcelona based Espanyol before joining La Liga giants Valencia in 2004 where he developed at the Mestalla’s B team. In three years he made 105 appearances scoring 55 goals, form that saw him earn two senior appearances for a Valencia side at the peak of their powers.

Spells with Granada, Mallorca, Alaves and Levante followed before joining Valladolid in 2010 where his goals helped them to the La Liga promotion play-offs in 2011 before securing a return to the Spanish top flight for ‘Pucela’ via the same route the following season.

The frontman continued his scoring form in La Liga last season, netting 15 goals in 37 La Liga appearances as Valladolid finished in 19th place in the Spanish top flight, returning to the Segunda División next season.
