25 November 2014

Another weekend double header for the Cardiff City apprentices

The Cardiff City Academy apprentices have another busy weekend ahead as they face off against Queens Park Rangers in league action on Saturday morning, before taking on Carmarthen Town on Sunday afternoon in the third round of this seasons FAW Youth Cup.

Saturday's Professional Development League Two South clash will kick-off at Cardiff International Sports Stadium at 11am with fans welcome to come and support our #FutureCityStars.

The Academy then host Carmarthen Town following their 4-1 away win over Cambrian & Clydach in the second round.

With twenty-three players currently completing apprenticeships as well as a thriving U16 setup, the City staff will be aiming for two wins from this busy weekend – this is not the first time they have had to face a two game weekend this season.

The apprentices defeated local rivals Merthyr Town in the opening round of the FAW Youth Cup, 8-1.  This result coming just a single day after the 1-0 away win over Nottingham Forest.

The 4-1 victory over Cambrian also came just over 24 hours after a 2-1 home victory over Crystal Palace.

Sunday’s FAW Youth Cup clash kicks off at 2.00pm, as City aim to continue their cup run at Cardiff International Sports Stadium. Free entry for all who wish to come down and support.
