JOIN THE CARDIFF CITY MOVEMBER TEAM AND WIN

Community

The start of November signals the beginning of our annual participation in Movember, where we encourage supporters to help the campaign as a part of our team, which we are proud to say is led by Roger Gibbins this year.

And what’s more, for starters every member of the Cardiff City Movember team is in with a chance of winning our exclusive Movember match ball, which is being used in our match against Leeds United.

Over the last six years, Cardiff City football Club has been proud to lend its support to Movember, the first of a new breed of charity campaigns to use popular culture and new angles to help raise vital funds and awareness. Both are invaluable in the battle against prostate and testicular cancer, while also working to educate and remove the stigma of asking for help when it comes to men’s health.

It’s not for everyone of course. We’ve often struggled to rally members to join up, as a good number of men find it difficult to face the prospect or potential self-induced embarrassment of growing a moustache over the month of November – even before the current (farmer) beard craze.

Will this year be better? Can we entice you, a family member or friend to sign up and grow a moustache for charity (or shave down their beards) for one single month, starting today? We hope so, based on these simple facts.

Number one – actually the only one that matters. Cancer kills. Cancer has taken too many loved ones from us, or from those we know. It’s up to us to do something about it. This is more important than feeling a little silly for a few weeks due to facial hair.

Remember, the Mo, aka your moustache is grown as a means to raise awareness. You, like all of us, have the invaluable ability to spread the word about Movember, to use your Mo to spark conversations around men’s health and to look awesome doing it. This is the power that each and every Mo Bro has, so stand up and grab the opportunity with both hands.

To the figures, the money raised is helping fund over 800 men's health programmes in 21 countries around the world. Movember is connecting and funding the best scientific and clinical minds in the world; fast tracking a time when no man will die from prostate or testicular cancer, and to rid the world of discrimination against men and boys with mental health problems.

Remember. In this instance, size really doesn’t matter. However big or small your moustache at the end of the month, what’s far more important is the fact you’ve contributed. You can continue to help change the face of men's health by heading over to Movember.com and signing up for 2014, then joining the Cardiff City team, where all fundraisers are welcome. There you can compete to head our league table at the end of the month, while helping our standing in the Football League’s network. We’ll naturally celebrate and promote our members via CF11 and online via social media.

So how about it? Are you in? Do the right thing and sign up for the Cardiff City Movember team today.
