Highly-rated Irish striker completes Bluebirds switch
Cardiff City Football Club is pleased to confirm the signing of Eoin Doyle from Chesterfield.
The 26 year old has joined the Bluebirds in a deal that will keep him at Cardiff City Stadium until the summer of 2018.
With 25 League & Cup goals to his name in just 33 Chesterfield appearances this season, forward Eoin will link up with Russell Slade’s squad on Tuesday. He is expected to be in contention for Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday, subject to international clearance.
Speaking exclusively to Cardiff City Player on Monday evening, Eoin spoke of his hunger to join Cardiff City and the busy day that led to his arrival in South Wales.
“When I heard about Cardiff’s interest this morning, I couldn’t ignore it,” said Eoin. “It was then a case of getting in the car and getting down here as quickly as I could. I’m really looking forward to getting going now and the challenge ahead.
“Now it’s about getting into the team – we’ve a lot of good strikers at the Club already. Then it’ll be a case of contributing as much as I can and scoring a few goals to help us up the League.”
The Bluebirds take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday, and the new City striker is eyeing that one as a chance to get off to a great start.
“I’ll be in for training on Tuesday morning and then it’ll be about getting to know the lads and working hard. I hope to be involved at the weekend and I know we’ll be going there for the three points.”
