CONNORS: I'LL LOOK FOR MORE GOALS

Club News

Matt Connolly played a crucial role in the Bluebirds’ 2-0 victory over Reading, with the defender adding his first goal of the campaign to a faultless display and yet another clean sheet.

After the game, Connolly spoke to the press and media at Cardiff City Stadium, and shared his delight with City returning to winning ways.

“It’s my first of the season, but I think I should have scored a few more,” said the defender.  “I’ve had a few chances, but sometimes it’s not to be.

“I think over the season Sean Morrison and I contribute quite a bit in goal-scoring terms, so hopefully I’ll look to get a few more.”

Another key man against the Royals was David Marshall, who made a string of remarkable second half stops, being voted fans' Man of the Match as a result.

“He gives us a telling off when we don’t do our jobs, and he makes some fantastic saves,” added Matt.

“I was marking Anton Ferdinand, and he said ‘your goalkeeper is on fire!’ He pulled off three great saves on the bounce.

“He’s safe, he always makes saves for us and he’s a fantastic character to have and he’s a leader as well.”
