MATCH PREVIEW | BRENTFORD vs CARDIFF CITY

Match Previews

The Bluebirds travel to face the Bees at Griffin Park on Tuesday evening, hoping for a vital three points in the hunt for a Play-Off spot…

THE OPPOSITION

Dean Smith’s Brentford are in good form as they welcome Cardiff City to West London. The Bees currently sit in the middle of the Sky Bet Championship table as Scott Hogan’s late equaliser against Bristol City on Saturday saw them remain in thirteenth place.

The goal was Hogan's first in 777 days following two serious injuries. It secured Brentford another point after three consecutive League victories in early April, including convincing away wins over Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town.

Brentford were dealt a significant blow in the match against the Tractor Boys, as playmaker Alan Judge suffered a broken leg. Dean Smith has since stressed that his absence will give others in the side a chance to impress in the final games of the season. Judge had been the Bees’ star man with fourteen League goals to his name this season. Meanwhile, Danish forward Lasse Vibe is the closest to him in the top-scorers list, with twelve League strikes.

CLUB CONNECTIONS

A number of players have turned out for both Brentford and Cardiff in recent years, with City stopper Simon Moore perhaps the most notable. The ‘keeper made seventy-seven League and Cup appearances for the Bees, becoming the shoot-out hero in their League One Play-Off Semi Final against Swindon Town in 2013.

Others to feature at both Griffin Park and Cardiff City Stadium include Tommy Smith, Kadeem Harris, Ben Nugent and Tom Adeyemi
