The scorer of one of the Bluebirds’ most famous goals returns...

Andy Campbell will forever remain in Cardiff City folklore as the man who scored the goal that took the Bluebirds back to the second tier, after eighteen years in the lower divisions.

The former Middlesbrough and England U21 striker made an instant impact in South Wales after first joining on loan in 2002. Campbell scored six goals in his four games in a Cardiff shirt, but it was in the following season that his crowning glory came.

After finishing in sixth position, City negotiated a two-legged Play-Off Semi-Final with Severnside Rivals, Bristol City, setting up a Final against QPR at the Millennium Stadium, in the heart of the Welsh capital city…

The defining moment of the tense contest came in the 116th minute of extra time as Campbell, who had earlier replaced Robert Earnshaw, lobbed the ball into the QPR net in front of 66,096 supporters - scoring one of City’s most historic strikes.
