WARNOCK: “ONE HUNDRED PER CENT EFFORT”

“They’ve given their all in every game,” says the City Gaffer…

The Bluebirds' boss, Neil Warnock, spoke to the assembled press and media at the Vale Resort this morning, ahead of Saturday’s match away to Aston Villa.

Whilst acknowledging the quality that Villa manager Steve Bruce has at his disposal, Warnock was confident that his men will put in a battling performance on Saturday afternoon.

“Since Steve went there, they’re flying, aren’t they? They are probably as good as anybody in the league at the moment,” Warnock began. “It’s nothing more than I expected, to be honest, with the players that they’ve got.

“But we feel that we can give them a good game – that’s the main thing. We’ve got to be confident in our own ability and we’ve done well away from home in the games since I’ve been here. There’s no reason why we don’t go up there and give them a good match.”

As City make their final preparations for the trip to Villa Park, Warnock explained how much he is relishing the fixture – particularly with a large travelling contingent of City supporters also making the journey to the Midlands.

“It’ll be a good atmosphere,” he said. “It’s one of the oldest clubs and a fabulous stadium. I always enjoy going there and I’m looking forward to it.

“I was in the Valleys yesterday presenting a signed shirt. They were saying: ‘there’s three buses from here going!’ - they make a day of it, don’t they?

“The lads have responded in the right way and they’ve given their all in every game. It hasn’t been enough in some games, but we know that we can be competitive. I think that’s lifted the crowd really, as they have liked the one hundred per cent effort that the lads have put in.

“The supporters earn their money hard. It’s blood and guts – as long as the lads try their hardest then they are a forgiving group. That’s what I really stress to the players, to give their all.”
